A trend? Sans serif roman + serif italic

Pairing a sans serif roman for main text with a serif italic for emphasis seems to be a thing now.

I first saw this last year on Live Original.‍[Note 1] They would have been doing this for quite a while by the time I saw it, but I thought, like, This is cool, I’m going to do the same some time.

Today I saw a call for proposals reposted by the CRSC,‍[Note 2] headed over to see it, and noticed the same type pairing in Koffler’s actual call.‍[Note 3]

Totally different niches; same type treatment. Looks like a trend?
